Doshisha Business School Officially Reaccredited by AMBA
Five-Year Accreditation Granted Through 2031
Assuring the Quality of MBA Education Through 3rd Party International Accreditation
The Graduate School of Business at Doshisha University (Doshisha Business School: DBS) has received official notification that it has successfully passed the reaccreditation review conducted by AMBA (Association of MBAs). (1,2) The accreditation is valid for five years, through 2031. This successful reaccreditation demonstrates the school’s continued commitment to enhancing the quality of its educational programs.
AMBA accreditation evaluates not only the current quality of a school's educational offerings but also the effectiveness of its mechanisms for continuous improvement. Schools are expected to establish objectives for education and management, implement initiatives, assess outcomes and challenges, and use those findings to inform future improvements. The review process examines whether this continuous PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle is functioning effectively to support the institution's ongoing development.
The granting of a further five-year accreditation confirms that the distinctive educational programs offered by the Doshisha Business School, together with its commitment to continuous improvement, meet internationally recognized standards. For current students, the accreditation serves as an assurance that the quality of the education they receive has been independently verified by an international third-party organization. For alumni, it represents meaningful recognition that their alma mater continues to enhance the quality of its educational programs.
In November 2026, an accreditation certificate presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at the AMBA Asia Pacific Conference in Singapore. One faculty member will attend the event to receive the certificate on behalf of the Doshisha Business School. The occasion will provide an opportunity not only to celebrate this achievement on an international stage but also to further strengthen the future educational and administrative initiatives of the Doshisha Business School.
At the same time, accreditation represents a new starting point for future improvement. As the environment surrounding business and society continues to evolve, so too do the expectations placed on MBA education. Encouraged by this recognition, the Doshisha Business School will continue to carefully assess both its achievements and its challenges while pursuing ever higher standards of learning and educational excellence.
Doshisha Business School remains committed to becoming a business school where both students and alumni can confidently say, “I am glad I studied here,” and will continue its efforts toward continuous improvement.
1. AMBA (the Association of MBAs) is an international accreditation organization based in the United Kingdom that evaluates and accredits MBA and other business-related graduate programs. It conducts comprehensive assessments of curriculum design, faculty qualifications, student quality, and institutional management to determine whether they meet international standards. Accreditation from AMBA is held by leading business schools worldwide and is widely recognized as an important indicator of educational quality for prospective MBA students.
2. Reaccreditation is the process by which an institution that has already obtained accreditation undergoes a new review upon the expiration of its accreditation period. Accreditation is not a one-time achievement; institutions must undergo periodic reassessment. Consequently, schools are evaluated not only on whether they maintain previously achieved standards, but also on whether they continue to improve their educational programs and operations over time. Successful reaccreditation is therefore evidence of sustained commitment to quality enhancement and continuous improvement.
