Executive Seminar Explores the Future of Fashion Industry in Japan

Updated Nov. 10, 2017
On 2 November, Ms. Akiko Shinoda, International Director of Japan Fashion Week Organization, delivered a lecture on the current situation and future potential of the Japanese fashion industry for Doshisha Business School’s Executive Seminar series.

In a seminar that covered the basics of the fashion system and the role of "fashion week” - organised runway shows of brands upcoming collections - Ms. Shinoda argued why Fashion Week Tokyo was critical for the future of the fashion industry in Japan, and how it helped upcoming brands connect with global markets. Her seminar also covered various efforts to promote not just Japanese fashion brands but also the production of regional textiles, from traditional fabrics such as Amami Oshima ’tsumugi’ to the recycling of wool in the Kanto region.

We would like to thank Ms. Shinoda for an insightful seminar and a wonderful contribution to the program!
