Students Visit Mitsubishi Motors Plant in Kyoto

Updated Jun. 30, 2017
On May 29, Global MBA students were given the opportunity to visit Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s Kyoto Plant as part of Professor Yuri Sadoi’s Knowledge and Innovation class. Students were able to see first-hand the operations at this innovative Japanese automotive company.

The site visit commenced with a presentation of the plant’s profile, products, and processes. This included the history of the plant, information on its daily operations, engine variations, their Renault-Nissan joint venture, and plans for expansion.

Students were then taken on a tour of the factory and were guided through each of the different halls, starting at the production of the parts to final assembly of the engines. Students reported that it was fascinating to see the efficiency of the assembly line and were impressed to learn that the assembly line is 50-60% automated.

The visit concluded with a question and answer session that addressed questions students had submitted in advance as well as spontaneous question inspired by the day’s activities.

On behalf of the entire Doshisha Business School and the Global MBA program, we would like to thank everyone at Mitsubishi Motors Corporation for taking time to provide this opportunity for our students.
