Adam Johns

Dr. Adam Johns joined Doshisha Business School’s Global MBA Program in April 2014 as an Associate Professor specialising in the international marketing strategy and business policy of cultural and creative industries.

Adam’s research and teaching particularly focuses on the authentic product development, branding, and international expansion of local cultural and creative industries such as food, fashion, traditional crafts, and content.
Previously, Adam has been an Assistant Professor at Rikkyo University, where he taught International Business and Creative Industries, and has also taught International Marketing at Waseda University.
He is regularly involved in lecturing, training, and consulting for organisations such as the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, as well as various government agencies.
His current research project examines the role of place brands and the importance of ‘origin' to the authenticity of cultural and creative products.
